High Borrans Lodges are Nordic-style timber lodges built to the highest specification to provide tasteful and romantic self-catering accommodation for couples, with all the conveniences that today’s discerning holidaymakers are seeking.

We have two lodges at the High Borrans site, named 'Rydal' and 'Far Sawrey'. They are identically finished and equipped.

Incorporating the highest levels of insulation and super-efficient heating and lighting, the lodges are totally energy-efficient, and emissions are minimal. The bright and airy design and clean lines are complemented by high-quality wool-mix carpets and luxurious soft furnishings in warm country tones.

The entrance hallway has an enclosed and heated coat cupboard to leave wet coats and boots, before moving into the living room, with its comfortable seating, stove-effect fire, television and DVD player. The area is lit by tasteful wall lighting and a table lamp. The dining area is equipped with dining table and chairs, and an integrated radio with MP3 connectivity.

There is one bedroom with a high-quality contemporary style kingsize bed, and a large walk-in wardrobe. The luxuriously appointed bathroom comprises a big walk-in shower, WC , “his and hers” washbasins and towel warmer. The kitchen is very well appointed with electric oven and gas hob, toaster, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer, in addition to the all the usual equipment.

Central heating throughout and hot water is provided via an ultra-efficient Class A condensing combi boiler, complemented by the stove-effect fire in the lounge. The energy efficient lights incorporate an eco-friendly feature activated by your front door key, which will turn them all off when you leave and lock your lodge. All gas and electricity within the lodge is included in the rental price.

The lounge and bedroom are carpeted in high-quality wool mix carpets; all other areas have slate-effect cushioned vinyl flooring. The soft furnishings are in complementary heathery colours. Television reception is via FreeSat; Mobile phone reception varies, depending on your provider.

All bed linen and towels for your stay are of the highest quality, and are included in the rental price. Washing, drying and ironing facilities are provided in a separate, adjacent building with a key lock facility.

Outside, each lodge has its own private deck and surrounding area of grassland, with private parking for a car. Should you wish to come by train, we can offer a collection service from Windermere station, a bare ten minutes’ drive away. We can also provide safe housing on the farm for mountain bikes, and stabling and turnout for horses. High Borrans Lodges are in the midst of the extensive bridlepath and footpath network that links the Troutbeck and Kentmere fells and valleys; you can ride and walk for miles, directly from the farm.

We will accept dogs at High Borrans Lodges, subject to certain conditions, this being very much a working farm environment. For full details, see our Booking Conditions.

Please note: High Borrans Lodges are totally non-smoking. If you smoke outside, please use the bins provided for the disposal of your cigarette ends, to avoid the potential fire risk on the timber decks.
